Version 0.2.0 Out Now!

Hey everyone!

Today I have some exciting news! I was spending a lot more time on my PC this week and realized, I hadn't worked on Atrophy in a while. Surprisingly, even with much intent to continue its development, I hadn't touched the game in MONTHS! No worries however, because today I switched on the independent indie game developer mode, and I went ham on upgrades!

Here are some new things to look for in this update:

  • Revamped Menu and Controls scenes and UI
    • New fonts
    • New buttons
    • Added button sounds (on cursor enter, exit and click)
    • New animated and hand-crafted backgrounds for each scene
    • MENU THEME SONG ADDED (subject to change)
    • CONTROLS THEME SONG ADDED (also subject to change)

  • FIXED THE RUNNING AUDIO!
    • Running by holding left shift now has its own separate run audio instead of silence!

  • SOUL FRAGMENTS
    • Fragments now use the shard collect sound from Dark Deception (PLACEHOLDER)
    • Added prototype Fragments in the Upstairs Hallway
    • Fragment spin animation edited to be a bit smoother in tutorial level

  • DOOR SOUNDS
    • Opening the doors in the tutorial level and in the cutscene for the Upstairs Hallway will now play a very rough draft and totally placeholder door sound.

  • NEW UPSTAIRS HALLWAY AMBIENCE
    • Added some spooky ambient audio to the Upstairs Hallway

And I think that wraps up everything that I was able to add! Only took me around like 5 months to finally decide to work and add all this, but I'm trying! Studying game design this semester was a smack to my face and made me realize I should probably start putting my projects out there to get more critique so I can improve! Thank you to everyone who has downloaded this and those who have given it a try! If you got this far and actually read this entire Devlog, I want to say thank you for your time and have an amazing time zone! I'll be sure to add more depth and levels in the future!

Signing off.
